Why, o why, are people starting the World Boxing League? The WBL will be a team-format boxing league. Each team will have 6 weight divisions and will particpate in 16 fights per season, which will be followed by playoffs.
As I have mentioned before, mixed martial arts is already dominating boxing. And, while MMA is basically the hottest sport around right now in terms of growth, the IFL, MMA's team fighting league, isn't doing so hot. Last I checked, a share of IFL stock was trading at a whopping 67 cents. If the IFL isn't working great, and boxing as a whole isn't what it used to be, why do the WBL founders think team boxing will work? I think the WBL better have their bankruptcy lawyer on speed dial.
What do you think?
