As reported in PSFK and Fallon Planning Blog, Vice Magazine has launched VBS.tv, an online broadcast network. VBS reports original, raw news relating to music, culture, travel, etc. Some of it will shock you, and from what I've seen, all of it is interesting. I recommend checking out "The Vice Guide to Travel - Bulgaria" and "The Vice Guide to Travel - Pakistan."
In Bulgaria, they meet a "Ivanov," (fake name) the weapons dealer who sold a French Journalist a nuclear warhead. The guy happens to also be building a mini-city that he is modeling on Beverly Hills, though property taxes are a little less in Bulgaria--about $10 a year. To Ivanov, there is no difference between building hotels and selling weapons on the black market--it's capitalism.
In Pakistan the news team visits a town it calls the illegal weapons capital of the world. The town motto is "many sons and lots of guns." Practically everyone there focuses on making guns with their bare hands; the town produces about 1,000 guns per day--every flavor you can imagine - US, Russian, Italian, 1800s British, etc.
VBS.tv is definitely an interesting channel, and I've probably seen more eye-opening coverage on VBS in the 15 minutes I spent watching than I've seen on CNN in a long time. It's refreshing to see news like this.
